May 2011, Exercise Is Medicine Month, 4th annual

May 2011, Exercise Is Medicine Month, Lauds The Benefits Of Physical Activity

29 Apr 2011

The fourth annual Exercise is Medicine® Month kicks off on Sunday, celebrating the health benefits of exercise and offering resources to get people moving.

"Everyone should start or renew an exercise program now as an investment in life-long health," said Robert E. Sallis, M.D., FACSM, chair of Exercise is Medicine. "Every person, regardless of age or health, is responsible for his or her own physical activity. There are far more reasons to exercise than excuses not to."

Exercise Lowers Health Care Costs

Research shows that exercise helps treat and prevent more than 40 chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity and hypertension.

"While there are numerous reasons for soaring health care costs, one undeniable explanation is the poor physical health of so many Americans," said Sallis. "Exercise is something every person can do to control the rising costs of health care and improve quality of life."

Health Care Provider Involvement is Key

Most health care providers don't realize the effect they have in motivating patients. Nearly 65 percent of patients say they would be more interested in exercising if advised by their doctor and given additional resources.

"Health care providers, including physicians, should assess physical activity at every appointment, write exercise prescriptions and be prepared to refer patients to fitness professionals," said Sallis. "Every doctor should be an exercise advocate."

A Two-Way Street

Starting a physical activity program can be as simple as taking a brisk walk each day and gradually building up frequency and duration. Patients are encouraged to talk to their health care provider for an exercise prescription if additional advice and guidance are needed.

Easy-to-Use Tools Available

Most people already know exercise is important. Many are overwhelmed by where and how to start, particularly those new to exercise, those who have an existing health condition and the elderly. Simple, easy-to-use exercise tips, tools and videos are available online to help them get started and stay motivated.

Partners Spread the Exercise Message

Exercise is Medicine partners include the American College of Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and organizations and universities from all parts of the world.

Governors and mayors nationwide have already signed on to proclaim May 2011 as Exercise is Medicine Month in their communities.

FDA lost another court case.

It is surprising to me that they can win any at all.

The government is supposedly so interested in improving our health, then why would they let the drug companies (via the FDA who has no interest in promoting health) restrict educating the public on better nutrition which can improve and reduce health problems?

They want to ban Mc Donald's but not let you know vitamins can help?
Lets sue the FDA out of existance and regain freedom of speech. They let DDT laden fruits and veggies come in from Central America, they let lead and other toxins in from China, and they let drugs and medicine be the #1 cause of death, but they restrict scientifically validated education on safe nutritional supplements.

They are terorists to the people. Its time for a budget cut for them.

Do not eat that junk?

Modern diet today is so desperately lacking in nutrient compared to those of our ancestors' days. How so?

With the advancement of technology, most of our foods are manufactured, genetically re-engineered, and processed. Being busy people, we start to rely heavily on instant meals. We spend lesser time preparing fresh foods.
One orange in 1951 vs. 10 oranges today!

Even the foods that we do prepare in our kitchen with all the sophisticated equipments, kill and destroy the nutrients and enzymes that our bodies so crave. Just what are we doing to our bodies?

As I did my own research, I was shocked with the many findings about the foods that I have been consuming in my first thirty years of life. By knowing the damages these foods are doing to my body, I started making conscious efforts to change my eating habits.

I may not be able to cover everything here but I want to share with you, some of the basic common foods we all take without thinking of the damaging impact they have on our health. Some of which we have even regarded as "healthy".

Keep your lives free from the LOVE of money, have no stress

“Godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6).
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
If you read the above verse in Hebrews carefully, it does not read, “Keep your lives free from money.” Rather, it reads this way: “Keep your lives free from the love of money” (italics mine). As you have no doubt already figured out from the previous chapter, this is an important distinction! Read also what Paul writes in 1 Timothy:
“But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that” (1 Timothy 6:8).
This verse does not say God only wants to give us food and clothing. Godliness with contentment is great gain. The fact is this: if we are content with little, we will avoid the pitfalls of the love of money. When God pays us well and gives us wealth we will feel incredibly rich and blessed. The author of Ecclesiastes knew this all too well:
“There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. ‘For whom am I toiling,’ he asked, ‘and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?’ This too is meaningless— a miserable business!” (Ecclesiastes 4:8)
The man described in this story was not content with his wealth. No matter how much money or possessions you might own you will never be truly “rich” without contentment. Like the man described above, we will only want more – and be miserable.

Put all trust in Jesus and be happy with everything because everything in His will He is in total controll.

4 reasons: We're (USA) is "broke" $

We're (USA) "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,?

In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, Pakistan, Lybia, Egypt and Turkey .. And now Japan Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$'s and Tons of foodless Food to Foreign Countries! We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans. AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed' all natural Vitamins, Minerals and Phytochemicals, some times meds, even the mentally ill without natural supplements and safe non toxic treatments.

YET...... They have a 'Benefit' for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and toxic medical supplies.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'the people in need' the same support they give to other countries.

2. We do not do what God told Moses in Leviticus 25:

3. We don't do the year of release (Jubilee) as Gods word says to in Deuteronomy 15: "At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts" and on the 49 year all so everyone would start afresh during the new Jubilee cycle.

4. We must abolish the federal reserve. We should all do all can though battering (trading goods and services).

We live in the woods and carpenter ants are a huge problem. We have spent thousands of dollars with Orkin and on ant poisons trying to keep them under control but nothing has helped. So when I read

Somewhere that aspartame *(NutraSweet)* was actually developed as an ant poison and changed to being considered non-poisonous after it was realized that a lot more money could be made on it as a sweetener than as an ant poison, I decided to give it a try.

I opened two packets of aspartame sweetener, and dumped one in a corner of each of our bathrooms . That was about 2 years ago and I have not seen any carpenter ants for about 9 to 12 months. It works better than the most deadly poisons I have tried. Any time they show up again, I simply dump another package of NutraSweet in a corner, and they will be gone for a year or so again. Since posting this information I have had many people tell me of their success solving ant problems with this substance, when nothing else worked. I found later that small black ants would not eat the aspartame. It was determined that if you mixed it with apple juice, they would quickly take it back to the nest, and all

Would be dead within 24 hours, usually. I have found that sometimes it will kill them, and sometimes it does not. Not sure why, may be slightly different species of ants or something.

Fire Ants: We got our first fire ant hill about 2 weeks ago. Poison did not work. We tried aspartame and the ants ignored it until we got a light rain. It was just a sprinkle, enough t o moisten the NutraSweet and ground, but not enough to wash it away. They went crazy, hundreds of them grabbing it and taking it back into the mound. When I checked the mound 2 days later, there was no sign of the fire ants. I even dug the mound up, and still saw none of them.

How does it Work: *Aspartame is a neuropoison.* It most likely kills the ants by interfering with their nervous system. It could be direct, like stopping their heart, or something more subtle like killing their sense of taste so they can't figure out what is edible, or smell, so they can't follow their

Trails, or mis-identify their colonies members, so they start fighting each other. Not sure what causes them to end up dying, just know that for many species of ants it will kill them quickly and effectively.

As with any poison I recommend wearing gloves and washing any skin areas that come in contact with this poison, and avoid getting it in your mouth, despite anything the labeling may indicate.

More information on this poison can be found at:
