The mother and father of seven children, six of whom are overweight, face the "unbearable" prospect of never seeing their four youngest again if authorities act on a threat to remove them.
Three girls aged 11, five and one, and a boy aged five, are to be put up for adoption or "fostered without contact" because their parents failed to help them slim down.
This means the parents will be unable to trace them and the family could only be reunited if the children attempt to find their family when they are grown up.
Social services warned the couple three years ago that their children would be taken away from them if they did not bring their weight under control.

The family spent two years living in a special council-funded house in which they were placed under a curfew and only three of the children were permitted to live with their parents at any one time.

But although they were placed under constant supervision and social workers observed them during meal times, no dietary rules were imposed and there was no significant improvement in the children's weight.
On Tuesday social workers informed the parents, who have been married for 20 years, of their decision to permanently remove their children.
The couple, from Dundee, are not guilty of any crime and have faced no accusations of deliberate abuse or cruelty.
Critics said the case, which is without precedent in Britain, was a serious breach of the family's human rights and exposed the worrying extent to which the State can interfere in family life.
The mother, aged 42, told the Mail on Sunday: "They picked on us because of our size to start with and they just haven't let go, despite the fact we've done everything to lose weight and meet their demands."
The father, aged 56, added: "The pressure of living in the family unit would have broken anyone. We were being treated like children and cut off from the outside world. To have a social worker stand and watch you eat is intolerable."
A Dundee City Council spokesperson said: "The council always acts in the best interests of children, with their welfare and safety in mind."

The foods we choose to eat each day have a huge impact on our long-term health and well-being. We all know this, but we don’t necessarily allow what we know to change our behavior. Did you know that our food choices can heavily impact the world around us? When we purchase over-processed, pre-packaged foods, we’re often looking for the easiest and quickest ways to feed ourselves and our families. We usually aren’t thinking about howthe food was produced or how that process could be harmful to farm workers, farm animals or the environment.
Food Day is a grassroots movement seeking to bring people across America together and inspire them to get involved in promoting healthy, affordable food produced in a sustainable, humane way. On Monday, October 24, 2011, people will gather at events across the nation to raise awareness of several food issues and advocate for change. Food Day is organized around six main goals:
Reduce diet-related disease by promoting safe, healthy foods.
Support sustainable farms and limit subsidies to big agribusiness.
Expand access to food and alleviate hunger.
Protect the environment and animals by reforming factory farms.
Promote health by curbing junk-food marketing to kids.
Support fair conditions for food and farm workers.
More Farms, Less Factories
Food day is about eating more food that comes from farms and less food that comes from factories. It’s an opportunity to celebrate real food and to teach people about the benefits of healthy eating, the importance of gardening and farming, and the possibility of moving from a world of nutritional complexity to one of simplicity and balance.
Obviously, choosing the right foods can help us control our calories and weight. But these simple choices actually allow us to do much more than that. When you are more aware of where your food comes from, you begin to understand the importance of seasonality, freshness, sustainability, and the welfare of farm workers and farm-raised animals.
Local Farmers Markets
Making healthy eating choices has gotten more difficult with today’s food industry, pushing more and more products into an already overloaded market. But shopping at a local farmers market is an easy solution. When you purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from the farmers market, you’re not only getting real food that’s more wholesome and tastier, you’re giving your money to a farmer in your own community, and you’re supporting someone who is taking care of the land. If you’re buying organic, you’re also getting the benefits of foods that are produced using “earth-friendly” practices that work in harmony with nature. If you really think about it, with each purchase of farm-fresh, organic food, you’re making an investment in the future of our planet.
If everyone bought just a little more organic food and food from farmers markets, it really could make a big difference in the food industry. These foods may be slightly more expensive than the more readily available processed foods that line the shelves at the grocery store, but they are worth every cent. If you don’t have a local farmers market, try to stick to the perimeter of the supermarket, where the fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products and whole foods are, and avoid the center of the store, where the highly processed foods are usually displayed.
The Bigger Picture
Eating right goes a long way toward keeping us healthy, but it’s not enough. Sometimes we have to look at the bigger picture to see what other changes we can make so we can cook meals for our families, using fresh, colorful seasonal ingredients; eat more locally grown, plant-based and whole grain foods; and live better, more environmentally conscious lives. Real food isn’t just good for us nutritionally, it has the power to nourish us and bring us together in community.
It’s all connected. The diets we follow, the foods we grow or buy, the policies we vote on and the impact we can have. Why not find—or create—a Food Day event today?
Here are some possible activities:
Organize a dinner with friends and/or neighbors using locally grown ingredients.
Help your child’s school start a vegetable garden (or make plans for the next growing season).
Talk to your mayor or city council about expanding access to local farmers markets.
Set up a debate, lecture or rally to discuss agricultural subsidies, animal welfare or farm workers’ rights in your area.

The P.S.A. test, routinely given to men 50 and older, measures a protein — prostate-specific antigen — that is released by prostate cells, and there is little doubt that it helps identify the presence of cancerous cells in the prostate. But a vast majority of men with such cells never suffer ill effects because their cancer is usually slow-growing. Even for men who do have fast-growing cancer, the P.S.A. test may not save them since there is no proven benefit to earlier treatment of such invasive disease.
As the P.S.A. test has grown in popularity, the devastating consequences of the biopsies and treatments that often flow from the test have become increasingly apparent. From 1986 through 2005, one million men received surgery, radiation therapy or both who would not have been treated without a P.S.A. test, according to the task force. Among them, at least 5,000 died soon after surgery and 10,000 to 70,000 suffered serious complications. Half had persistent blood in their semen, and 200,000 to 300,000 suffered impotence, incontinence or both. As a result of these complications, the man who developed the test, Dr. Richard J. With a new patented process I no longer need to sell synthetic vitamins like I have in the past 40 years. All of my people today are getting better results than ever before after switching from vitamins made from petroleum and rocks.

I owned a Health Food store for 15 years selling what I thought was good products. 95% of everything in the Health Food stores are synthetic vitamins and ground up rock dust. 95% of what is sold in ALL multilevel companies as vitamins are also synthetic. It's true there better than
nothing but they can be harmful yet not as harmful as prescription drugs or over the counter drugs yet harmful nonetheless. Over 95% of the vitamins and minerals sold by chiropractors and naturopathic doctors are synthetic wit the minerals from rock dust & dirt. For 10 years I sold private label vitamins to doctors and Health Food Stores, now I know were synthetic.
The truth about what’s really in most vitamins is shocking. Coal tar, petroleum, rocks: they’re all common ingredients in synthetic supplements, which make up 95% of the nutritional supplement market in America alone. Ingredients like that simply aren’t absorbed well (if at all) by your body. Add to it that we typically don’t consume all the nutrients we need at the proper levels in our diet, and it’s no surprise that malnutrition is the #1 health risk in the world, affecting more than 925 million people worldwide. Federal agents organize a sting operation against a tiny raw milk buying club—and ignore more serious food-safety crimes
August 3 was a telling day for food freedom in America, but the events were framed in terms of food safety. In Venice, California, the Rawesome raw food club was raided by armed federal and county agents who arrested a club volunteer and seized computers, files, cash, and $70,000 worth of perishable produce. James Stewart, 64, was charged on 13 counts, 12 of them related to the processing and sale of unpasteurized milk to club members. The other count involved unwashed, room-temperature eggs—a storage method Rawesome members prefer. The agents dumped gallons of raw milk and filled a large flatbed with seized food, including coconuts, watermelons, and frozen buffalo meat.
That same morning, leaders at the multinational conglomerate Cargill were calculating how best to deal with a deadly outbreak of drug-resistant Salmonella that originated in a Cargill-owned turkey factory.
When word of the raw milk crackdown got out, a bevy of high-profile lawyers offered to represent the raw foodies pro bono, says Rawesome member Lela Buttery, 29. Christopher Darden, who helped prosecute O.J. Simpson, appeared at Stewart's arraignment just in time to lower his bail from the $121,000 that prosecutors had recommended to $30,000, and to strike a rarely used clause that would have prevented Stewart from employing a bail bondsman.
Buttery told me the mood in the courtroom was almost comical when Stewart's initial $121,000 bail was announced. "We'd been watching child molesters and wife-beaters get half that amount. James is accused of things like processing milk without pasteurization and gets such a high bail amount ... the felons in court burst out laughing."
Rawesome began 12 years ago as a small group of raw-milk drinkers who occasionally pooled their money and bought unpasteurized milk from local dairies. As more and more people joined, the club's distribution facilities grew from a cooler in a parking lot to a rented storage space to the current warehouse. The inventory diversified, but the presentation remained minimal: food in piles, haphazardly labeled, as agreed on by club members.
Rawesome members sign a form attesting that "as a member of this private members-only club, I demand access to food that is 1) produced without exposure to chemical contaminants such as industrialized pesticides, fertilizers, cleansers or their gases; 2) complete with its natural unadulterated enzymes intact; 3) may contain microbes, including but not limited to salmonella, E. coli, campylobacter, listeria, gangrene and parasites; 4) the cows are grass-fed and the goats are pastured on a regular basis; 5) fowl are regularly given the opportunity to range outdoors and not fed soy products; and 6) eggs are unwashed and may have bacteria and poultry feces on them."
The August 3 raid was not Rawesome's first. A June 2010 raid resulted in seizures of cash, computers, and other equipment that has yet to be returned, Buttery says. It also resulted in Rawesome's agreement not to distribute raw milk from Santa Paula-based Healthy Family Farms, which had been supplying it to Rawesome.

The new charges are unrelated to the initial raid on raw milk, and they threaten to distract from the heart of the issue: whether consumers can enter into private leasing arrangements, which are similar to arrangements commonly used on a daily basis by all kinds of businesses in the U.S., to obtain their food. The Rawesome situation seems barely different from, say, a group of co-workers going to a colleague's house for lunch, and they drop him some paper in return.
Despite massive financial problems in California and Washington, D.C., the government was able to find enough money for a multi-year, multi-agency undercover investigation to root out information that nobody was trying to hide. Details on the provenance of Rawesome's raw milk is available to all members, including the undercover government agents.
While the Cargills of the world get to help decide the rules, tax dollars are being used to do away with freedom of choice. This is the state of food freedom in America today: It's being sacrificed in the name of food safety.

Federal agents organize a sting operation against a tiny raw milk buying club—and ignore more serious food-safety crimes
August 3 was a telling day for food freedom in America, but the events were framed in terms of food safety. In Venice, California, the Rawesome raw food club was raided by armed federal and county agents who arrested a club volunteer and seized computers, files, cash, and $70,000 worth of perishable produce. James Stewart, 64, was charged on 13 counts, 12 of them related to the processing and sale of unpasteurized milk to club members. The other count involved unwashed, room-temperature eggs—a storage method Rawesome members prefer. The agents dumped gallons of raw milk and filled a large flatbed with seized food, including coconuts, watermelons, and frozen buffalo meat.
That same morning, leaders at the multinational conglomerate Cargill were calculating how best to deal with a deadly outbreak of drug-resistant Salmonella that originated in a Cargill-owned turkey factory.
When word of the raw milk crackdown got out, a bevy of high-profile lawyers offered to represent the raw foodies pro bono, says Rawesome member Lela Buttery, 29. Christopher Darden, who helped prosecute O.J. Simpson, appeared at Stewart's arraignment just in time to lower his bail from the $121,000 that prosecutors had recommended to $30,000, and to strike a rarely used clause that would have prevented Stewart from employing a bail bondsman.
Buttery told me the mood in the courtroom was almost comical when Stewart's initial $121,000 bail was announced. "We'd been watching child molesters and wife-beaters get half that amount. James is accused of things like processing milk without pasteurization and gets such a high bail amount ... the felons in court burst out laughing."
Rawesome began 12 years ago as a small group of raw-milk drinkers who occasionally pooled their money and bought unpasteurized milk from local dairies. As more and more people joined, the club's distribution facilities grew from a cooler in a parking lot to a rented storage space to the current warehouse. The inventory diversified, but the presentation remained minimal: food in piles, haphazardly labeled, as agreed on by club members.
Rawesome members sign a form attesting that "as a member of this private members-only club, I demand access to food that is 1) produced without exposure to chemical contaminants such as industrialized pesticides, fertilizers, cleansers or their gases; 2) complete with its natural unadulterated enzymes intact; 3) may contain microbes, including but not limited to salmonella, E. coli, campylobacter, listeria, gangrene and parasites; 4) the cows are grass-fed and the goats are pastured on a regular basis; 5) fowl are regularly given the opportunity to range outdoors and not fed soy products; and 6) eggs are unwashed and may have bacteria and poultry feces on them."
The August 3 raid was not Rawesome's first. A June 2010 raid resulted in seizures of cash, computers, and other equipment that has yet to be returned, Buttery says. It also resulted in Rawesome's agreement not to distribute raw milk from Santa Paula-based Healthy Family Farms, which had been supplying it to Rawesome.

'My father was paralyzed and later died from the result of a stroke. I wish I knew about this first aid before today. When stroke strikes, the capillaries in the brain will gradually burst.'(Irene Liu)
When witness a stroke occurring, stay calm. No matter where the victim is, do not move him/her. Because, if moved, the capillaries will burst. Gently help the victim to sit up. Prevent him from falling over again, and then the bloodletting can begin. If you have in your home an injection syringe that would be the best, otherwise, a sewing needle or a straight pin will do.
1. Place the needle/pin over fire to sterilize it, and then use it to prick the tip of all 10 fingers.
2. There are no specific acupuncture points, just prick about a mm from the fingernail. (Note from K: These ARE acupuncture points....called Jing Well points, drainage points for moving blood.)
3. Prick till blood comes out.
4. If blood does not start to drip, then squeeze with your fingers.
5. When all 10 digits is bleeding, wait a few minutes then the victim will regain consciousness.
6. If the victim's mouth is crooked, then pull on his ears until they are red.
7. Then prick each ear lobe twice until two drops of blood comes from each ear lobe. After a few minutes the victim should regain consciousness.
Wait till the victim regain his normal state without any abnormal symptoms then take him to the hospital, otherwise, if he was taken in the ambulance in a hurry to the hospital, the bumpy trip will cause all the capillaries in his brain to burst. If he could save his life, barely managing to walk, then it is by the grace of his ancestors.
' I learned about letting blood to save life from Chinese traditional doctor Ha Bu-Ting who lives in Sun-Juke. Furthermore, I had practical experience with it. Therefore I can say this method is 100% effective.In 1979, I was teaching inFung-Gaap College in Tai-Chung. One afternoon I was teaching class when another teacher came running to my class room and said in panting, 'Ms. Liu, come quick, our supervisor has had a stroke!'
I immediately went to the 3rd floor. When I saw our supervisor, Mr.Chen Fu-Tien, his color was off, his speech was slurred, his mouth was crooked-all the symptoms of a stroke. I immediately asked one of the practicum students to go to the pharmacy outside the school to buy a syringe, which I used to prick Mr. Chen's 10 fingers tips. When all 10 fingers were bleeding (each with a pea-sized drop of blood), after a few minutes, Mr. Chen's face regained its color and his eyes' spirit returned, too. But his mouth was still crooked. So I pulled on his ears to fill them with blood. When his ears became red, I pricked his right earlobe twice to let out 2 drops of blood. When both earlobes had two drops of blood each, a miracle happened. Within 3-5 minutes the shape of his mouth returned to normal and his speech became clear. We let him rest for a while and have a cup of hot tea, then we helped him go down the stairs, drove him to Wei-Wah Hospital . He rested one night and was released the next day to return to school to teach.
Everything worked normally. There were no ill after-effects. On the other hand, the usual stroke victim usually suffers irreparable bursting of the brain capillaries on the way to the hospital. As a result, these victims never recover.- ' (Irene Liu)
Therefore stroke is the second cause of death. The lucky ones will stay alive but can remain paralyzed for life. It is such a horrible thing to happen in one's life. Congress will not allow an increase in the social security COLA ( cost of living adjustment ); however, the per person monthly Medicare insurance premium will be increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2012, $120.20 for the year 2013 AND increases to a wonderful $247.00 in 2014. Congress also gave themselves a $3,000 a month Cost of Living Adjustment !

I have a gut feeling …
… that many of us underestimate the important role our gastrointestinal tract plays in our overall health. If you have been following the literature, however, you will have noticed an explosion of scientific interest in this area—research made possible with the development of creative tools that can explore the inhospitable territory of our gut, our “inner tube of life.” (1) Much of this research has focused on the 1,000 trillion microorganisms (primarily bacteria) that live there. Dubbed the “dark matter of life” by the renowned scientist E.O. Wilson, these microorganisms outnumber the cells of our bodies 10:1 and, as a group, their genes outnumber ours 100:1.(2) They have been tough to study because they thrive in an environment that defies replication in the laboratory. Australian scientists recently presented the results of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial which showed that, shortly after taking a single 4 gram serving of Ambrotose complex powder, healthy adults experienced improved memory and performed better on demanding cognitive tasks. The product had no effect on blood glucose levels.* † The trial was led by Dr. Talitha Best, post-doctoral research fellow at the Nutritional Physiology Research Centre (NPRC), University of South Australia, and the Brain Sciences Institute (BSI) Swinburne University of Technology. Study co-authors included Professor Peter Howe and Associate Professor Jon Buckley (NPRC); Dr. Janet Bryan, School of Psychology, University of South Australia; and Professor Andrew Scholey (BSI). The Australasian Society for Experimental Psychology was created to conduct an annual meeting for the presentation of research in experimental psychology. Dr. Best’s study was presented as part of a symposium Dr. Best convened and co-chaired with Professor Scholey, titled “Brains and food—detecting nutritional effects on cognition.”

Dr. Rollins is currently an Intellectual Property and R and D Consultant. He is also on the Speakers Bureau, lecturing on Glyconutritionals. Dr. Rollins was most recently employed at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Quality Assurance Manager. During his tenure at the USPTO he was exposed, directly or indirectly, to nearly every new drug and nutritional discovery that came through the Patent Office in the past 23 years. He says,". . . our group at the patent office had the opportunity to review the best technology presented by the world's best scientists." Dr. Rollins states, "There have been many significant discoveries, but one stands head and shoulders above the rest; the discovery of a new category of vital nutrients called Glyconutrients."
Dr. Rollins has worked for many years in the area of complimentary medicine as a lecturer and presenter of health and nutrition information to the general public. In the late 1970s and early 1980s he co-founded a non-profit health education organization called "Better Health Associates." This group of educators and entrepreneurs staged seminars and lectures throughout the Washington, DC Metro area.

CHICKEN LITTLE AND FOOD-SAFETY ACCOUNTABILITY

From time to time, some health-freedom groups and individuals want to grab attention and publicize what they think they know about Congressional legislation that could seriously impact our health-freedom rights and protections. Unfortunately, too often, they just cross the line in presenting fiction as legislative or FDA policy fact.
This is the case with the third version of Senator Leahy's Food Safety Accountability Act, SB 216, which recently passed the Senate and is pending in the Health Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Like "Chicken Little," the claims of others are that “the sky is falling” on dietary supplements and organic/nutritional foods. The NHF follows Congressional legislation closely and lobbies for and against bills on an ongoing basis, not when it is convenient and will draw attention but when it is really needed. The NHF is serious about investigating the facts and legislative language of any Congressional bills that might affect health freedom or the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). This is done on all issues before the NHF even speaks its opinion and legislative position. We do our homework because the health-freedom community deserves to know the truth. And NHF knows that health-freedom advocates want the truth before spending their precious time lobbying members of Congress or donating to a cause.
The fact is, the sky is not falling on supplements or on organic/nutritional foods with SB 216, as some are claiming on this issue. This third version of the Leahy bill is drastically pared back in scope from the original bill, and even the second version of the legislation. Regardless, in all three versions, dietary supplements are exempted from the application of the definition of food contained in SB 216. In the bill, food has the meaning given that term in Section 201 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 321). This is not the DSHEA part of the food section in the FDCA.
According to Senate staff, Senators Sessions, Hatch, Coburn, and Grassley all had concerns about the statutory linkage between foods and supplements, and the final Leahy language reflects these concerns. The only "troubling" legislative word is "food." So, organic foods and supplements are not included, only conventional foods and the companies that process and distribute conventional foods. As we all know, conventional foods are foods that are not dietary supplements. And, dietary supplements must be labeled as such and must not be represented for use as a conventional food or as the sole item of a meal.
On the issue of the application of SB 216 to organic/natural foods, the Leahy bill amends last year's so-called Food Safety law, S.510, which the NHF and others strongly opposed. To that bill, the Testor/Hagan amendment was added to exempt small organic and natural food growers. By definition, this Chicken Little threat does not exist for small organic and natural food growers.
The intent of the latest Leahy Food Safety Accountability bill, according to the Senator's own floor statement, is to provide sufficient criminal sanctions for those who violate the food-safety laws with the intent to mislead or defraud. These are conventional food companies and their CEOs. Under current law, this is illegal but only a Federal misdemeanor with fines and recalls. Leahy ups the ante on conventional food companies, especially those who import conventional food for distribution to U.S. consumers. Food safety is important, but it should not be over-regulated. Regulations have a strange way of back-firing and producing the exact opposite of their intended effects. In this case, as we have always said, more regulations will just make the food supply less safe, not safer.
The NHF is monitoring the Leahy bill in the House. Its chances for passage are slim and none, but anything with Congress is possible. Even if the Leahy bill did pass and were enacted into law, it would not materially impact dietary supplements or organic food products. There’s a world of difference between acknowledging an indirect or limited threat as opposed to blowing things all out of proportion just so that you can look as if you are doing something.
Sensationalism makes for good headlines, but it really disrespects you the reader – the health-freedom proponent who matters the most. The NHF is husbanding its resources and not actively trying to defeat SB 216 because of the facts we set forth above and – quite frankly – because we do not support Big Agribusiness companies and their rapacious practices.
As the oldest and best-respected health-freedom group on Capitol Hill, the NHF continues to be the credible source of objective assessment of, and proactive actions on, Congressional legislation and FDA matters that have material impact upon our freedom-of-health choices and access to dietary supplements and nutritional foods.

The intent of the latest Leahy Food Safety Accountability bill, according to the Senator's own floor statement, is to provide sufficient criminal sanctions for those who violate the food-safety laws with the intent to mislead or defraud. These are conventional food companies and their CEOs. Under current law, this is illegal but only a Federal misdemeanor with fines and recalls. Leahy ups the ante on conventional food companies, especially those who import conventional food for distribution to U.S. consumers. Food safety is important, but it should not be over-regulated. Regulations have a strange way of back-firing and producing the exact opposite of their intended effects. In this case, as we have always said, more regulations will just make the food supply less safe, not safer.
The NHF is monitoring the Leahy bill in the House. Its chances for passage are slim and none, but anything with Congress is possible. Even if the Leahy bill did pass and were enacted into law, it would not materially impact dietary supplements or organic food products. There’s a world of difference between acknowledging an indirect or limited threat as opposed to blowing things all out of proportion just so that you can look as if you are doing something.
Sensationalism makes for good headlines, but it really disrespects you the reader – the health-freedom proponent who matters the most. The NHF is husbanding its resources and not actively trying to defeat SB 216 because of the facts we set forth above and – quite frankly – because we do not support Big Agribusiness companies and their rapacious practices.

Is the hepatitis B vaccine safe?
The hepatitis B vaccine is given to U.S. infants at birth. But there is impressive evidence that for a preventive measure, hepatitis B vaccine is remarkable for the frequency, variety, and severity of complications from its use.
Hepatitis B vaccine has been shown in many peer-reviewed research papers to be associated with numerous infant deaths in the U.S. and Europe, multiple sclerosis and numerous chronic autoimmune disorders.
According to Child Health Safety, the U.S. government admitted as much when a Court found in favor of a plaintiff (deceased by the time the decision was made) who had developed systemic lupus erythematosus:
"Tambra Harris ... filed a petition for compensation alleging that she suffered certain injuries as a result of receiving a vaccination. Among the injuries petitioner alleged that she had suffered as a result of receiving a hepatitis B vaccination was systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) ... Since parents' concerns about childhood vaccine safety have greatly increased during the past five years, a new report also suggests that pediatricians and family physicians should figure out ways to spend LESS time talking with them about it.

"Because of the amount of time needed to address immunization safety for these parents, there is a larger burden on pediatricians and family physicians to address these concerns during well-child appointments."

Nearly Half a Million Dollars Awarded to Hepatitis B Vaccine Victim
On August 29, 2001, Tambra Harris filed a petition for compensation alleging that she suffered certain injuries, including lupus (SLE), as a result of receiving a hepatitis B vaccination. Harris sought an award under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, and on March 22, 2011 -- nearly 10 years later! -- counsel for both parties filed a stipulation stating that a decision should be entered awarding compensation.
A lump sum of $475,000 was awarded to the Estate of Tambra Harris as "compensation for all damages." Unfortunately, Tambra died in November 2009, so she never got to see the result of her petition.
This is only one case of many reported serious reactions to the hepatitis B vaccine.
Routine use of the hepatitis B vaccine for all newborns began in 1992, and according to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), operated jointly by the CDC and FDA, there were 36,788 officially reported adverse reactions to hepatitis B vaccines between 1992 and 2005. Of these, 14,800 were serious enough to cause hospitalization, life-threatening health events or permanent disabilities.
And 781 people were reported to have DIED following hepatitis B vaccination -- and this is likely an underestimate because only a fraction of the serious health problems, including deaths, following vaccination are ever acknowledged due to a lack of public awareness about how to recognize signs and symptoms of vaccine reactions.
Vaccine adverse events are substantially underreported—some estimate by as much as 90 percent—even though the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 mandated that all doctors and other vaccine providers report serious health problems, including hospitalizations, injuries and deaths following vaccination.
The 1986 Act did not include sanctions for failing to report potential vaccine reactions to VAERS and so most vaccine providers do not file a report when the health of a person recently vaccinated begins to deteriorate.
Many vaccine reactions are not even recognized by medical personnel as vaccine-related.
For instance, when babies die after hep B vaccinations, most of the time their deaths are automatically attributed to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) without investigation into whether the vaccine caused the baby's sudden death.

How fast do finger nails grow?
Adult finger nails grow (on average) about 0.02 inches a week. That works out to 0.9 inches per year. That's about the same pace that continents move, by the way.
If you're thinking that your nails definitely grow more than that -- you're probably right. Young people have faster-growing fingernails than oldies. Fingernails also grow more during the day, in summer, and among people who live in warmest and sunniest climates. Men have faster growing fingernails than women. Children have the fastest growing fingernails of all. In fact, a child under about 12 can lose the very tip of their finger, and the finger tip will grow back (nail and all).
The fingernails on the longest fingers (the middle fingers) grow fastest of all. Also, the more the hand is used the faster the nail grow (because of a better blood supply). Good health promotes faster fingernail growth.
Toenails grow between a quarter and half as much as fingernails.

Many Studies Show No Health Benefits From Synthetic Vitamins
o A Harvard study of 22,000 physicians reported no health benefits from synthetic vitamins.
o A 1994 study in the New England Journal of Medicine on elderly Americans, designed to improve muscle weakness and physical frailty, demonstrated no benefits whatsover.
o In a study, published in the 1945 American Journal of Digestive Diseases, Vitamin E-deficient laboratory animals that were fed synthetic tocopherols died before the control group that did not receive any nutritional supplements at all.
o Researchers at Dartmouth Medical School ran a four-year study to see if antioxidant nutritional supplements could prevent the recurrence of adenomas of the colon after surgical removal in 864 patients. After four years of giving 25 mg of beta-carotene, 1000 mg of ascorbic acid, and 400 mg of alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), all in synthetic forms, there were no positive effects noted and the researchers concluded that: "Current data do not support the use of antioxidant (synthetic) vitamin supplements for purposes of cancer prevention." (July 22, 1994 New England Journal of Medicine).

Medical Research Shows Synthetic Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements Can Increase Cancer Risk
In a Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center study, 18,000 American men and women at risk of lung cancer took either a placebo or supplements of synthetic vitamin A. The researchers, led by Dr. Gilbert Omen, stopped the study in January, 1996, because the group on nutritional supplements had a 28% higher incidence of lung cancer. Regarding these troublesome findings, Dr. Susan Taylor Mayne of Yale University told New Scientist "I'm concerned about all of these nutrients that people go out and take in massive doses. These nutrients have adverse effects."
She was, of course, talking about synthetic vitamins.
Other studies show that synthetic beta carotene can block antioxidant activity and the anti-cancer activity of antioxidants (carotenoids) in the diet.
A study of 29,000 Finnish smokers proved that synthetic vitamins increased death rates significantly enough to stop a 10-year study prematurely. To the researchers' horror the risk of cancer increased by 16% and there were more heart attacks, more strokes, and an 8% higher increase in the overall death rate of those smokers taking the synthetic nutritional supplements.

New England Journal of Medicine Reported Major Health Problems With Synthetic Vitamin A
A New England Journal of Medicine (Nov, 1995) study at Boston University School of Medicine found that synthetic vitamin A given to pregnant women, in medium to high doses, increased the risk of birth defects by 240% at the lower dosage and 400% at the higher dosage. Serious genetic damage that caused cleft lip, cleft palette, heart malformations, and nervous system damage were linked to synthetic vitamins. This comprehensive study of 22,748 women over a period of four years reported that there was no birth defect risk noted from foods containing Vitamin A.

Research done by Dr. Agnes Faye Morgan (University of California) reported that taking synthetic vitamins is worse than starvation.
Animals fed synthetic vitamins had toxic reactions or died quickly of degenerative diseases compared to those fed whole foods. She reported in Science that animals on a synthetic vitamin enriched diet died long before the animals on an unprocessed diet. She stated that the enrichment of processed foods with synthetic vitamins may "precipitate conditions worse than the original deficiency."
Other animal studies reveal untimely deaths, sterility, and serious health deficits with the use of synthetic nutritional supplements versus once-living source whole foods in animal feeds (Scandinavian Veterinary; Journal of Natural Agriculture).

Many Studies Show No Health Benefits From Synthetic Vitamins
o A Harvard study of 22,000 physicians reported no health benefits from synthetic vitamins.
o A 1994 study in the New England Journal of Medicine on elderly Americans, designed to improve muscle weakness and physical frailty, demonstrated no benefits whatsover.
o In a study, published in the 1945 American Journal of Digestive Diseases, Vitamin E-deficient laboratory animals that were fed synthetic tocopherols died before the control group that did not receive any nutritional supplements at all.
o Researchers at Dartmouth Medical School ran a four-year study to see if antioxidant nutritional supplements could prevent the recurrence of adenomas of the colon after surgical removal in 864 patients. After four years of giving 25 mg of beta-carotene, 1000 mg of ascorbic acid, and 400 mg of alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), all in synthetic forms, there were no positive effects noted and the researchers concluded that: "Current data do not support the use of antioxidant (synthetic) vitamin supplements for purposes of cancer prevention." Medical Research Shows Synthetic Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements Can Increase Cancer Risk
In a Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center study, 18,000 American men and women at risk of lung cancer took either a placebo or supplements of synthetic vitamin A. The researchers, led by Dr. Gilbert Omen, stopped the study in January, 1996, because the group on nutritional supplements had a 28% higher incidence of lung cancer. Regarding these troublesome findings, Dr. Susan Taylor Mayne of Yale University told New Scientist "I'm concerned about all of these nutrients that people go out and take in massive doses. These nutrients have adverse effects."
She was, of course, talking about synthetic vitamins.
Other studies show that synthetic beta carotene can block antioxidant activity and the anti-cancer activity of antioxidants (carotenoids) in the diet.
A study of 29,000 Finnish smokers proved that synthetic vitamins increased death rates significantly enough to stop a 10-year study prematurely. To the researchers' horror the risk of cancer increased by 16% and there were more heart attacks, more strokes, and an 8% higher increase in the overall death rate of those smokers taking the synthetic nutritional supplements.

New England Journal of Medicine Reported Major Health Problems With Synthetic Vitamin A
A New England Journal of Medicine (Nov, 1995) study at Boston University School of Medicine found that synthetic vitamin A given to pregnant women, in medium to high doses, increased the risk of birth defects by 240% at the lower dosage and 400% at the higher dosage. Serious genetic damage that caused cleft lip, cleft palette, heart malformations, and nervous system damage were linked to synthetic vitamins. This comprehensive study of 22,748 women over a period of four years reported that there was no birth defect risk noted from foods containing Vitamin A.

The fourth annual Exercise is Medicine® Month kicks off on Sunday, celebrating the health benefits of exercise and offering resources to get people moving.
"Everyone should start or renew an exercise program now as an investment in life-long health," said Robert E. Sallis, M.D., FACSM, chair of Exercise is Medicine. "Every person, regardless of age or health, is responsible for his or her own physical activity. There are far more reasons to exercise than excuses not to."
Exercise Lowers Health Care Costs
Research shows that exercise helps treat and prevent more than 40 chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity and hypertension.
"While there are numerous reasons for soaring health care costs, one undeniable explanation is the poor physical health of so many Americans," said Sallis. "Exercise is something every person can do to control the rising costs of health care and improve quality of life."
Health Care Provider Involvement is Key
Most health care providers don't realize the effect they have in motivating patients. Nearly 65 percent of patients say they would be more interested in exercising if advised by their doctor and given additional resources.
"Health care providers, including physicians, should assess physical activity at every appointment, write exercise prescriptions and be prepared to refer patients to fitness professionals," said Sallis. "Every doctor should be an exercise advocate."
A Two-Way Street
Starting a physical activity program can be as simple as taking a brisk walk each day and gradually building up frequency and duration. Patients are encouraged to talk to their health care provider for an exercise prescription if additional advice and guidance are needed.
Easy-to-Use Tools Available
Most people already know exercise is important. Many are overwhelmed by where and how to start, particularly those new to exercise, those who have an existing health condition and the elderly. Simple, easy-to-use exercise tips, tools and videos are available online to help them get started and stay motivated.
Partners Spread the Exercise Message

FDA lost another court case.
It is surprising to me that they can win any at all.
The government is supposedly so interested in improving our health, then why would they let the drug companies (via the FDA who has no interest in promoting health) restrict educating the public on better nutrition which can improve and reduce health problems?
They want to ban Mc Donald's but not let you know vitamins can help?

They let DDT laden fruits and veggies come in from Central America, they let lead and other toxins in from China, and they let drugs and medicine be the #1 cause of death, but they restrict scientifically validated education on safe nutritional supplements.
